The common dolphins in Costa Rica are anything but common. They are frequently sighted starting in waters more than 1500 meters deep. A better common name for the common dolphin, Delphinus delphis, would be Sky Dolphin, because they spend so much time in the sky. Them dolphins really can not jump enough. They are very wary of people and boat and rarely appraoch. This might be because they are still killed in the nets of commercial fishing like their primos the spinner dolphins.
