Corcovado Base Camp
Rainforest and River by the Sea, Rustically.
Corcovado Base Camp Reservations at costacetacea@gmail.com
Corcovado Base Camp is a great way to camp in the rainforest by a river and the sea, rustically. If you are planning on staying in nearby Corcovado National Park, we are ready to help you be self sufficient when you get there. We can arrange all park stays, great local guides, all area quality tours, and food for you. We rent tents, hammocks and other gear if you need or come with your own setup, in case you want want to leave the park through another side.
Most people do not realize how huge and wild the Osa is. The peninsula is much bigger than Corcovado Park. North of the park lies kilometers of coast with no roads, fully forested. Some of the coolest lodges in the country are hidden along the way. Here the forest and beaches are as spectacular as any in the park, and without the crowds of many of Costa Rica's beaches.
Most tourists do not come here because you must be ready to get wild and rustic. There is lots of walking up hills and steps, mud, insects, animals, thick vegetation everywhere. There is no pavement or stores or restaurants. You will have to swim across rivers and navigate though jungle. This is the Costa Rica of yore, the stuff that made us famous. You will come away with a greater understanding of the pleasures and benefits of living the real pura vida.
Many visitors say that after staying, they are better able to simplify and enjoy their lives back home
We would like to show you that old Costa Rica, camping simply by the sea in a forest, surrounded by nature and her sound, sights, scents, tastes and touches. We have decades of camping here on the Osa and we can show you how safe, easy and comfortable Costa Rican rustic living can be.
Corcovado Base Camp is by reservation only. You must be in good physical shape. If you are handicapped or feel like its too much contact us and we can discuss some options that may work for you.
